I'VE MADE IT TO MY ORIGINAL GOAL!

40. Sizzle and Burn, Jayne Ann Krentz

Yay! I've read 40 books this year so far. I've excited to have made it to my goal number, though with the way I had been going earlier this year, like in the summer, I almost expected to reach it sooner. But life kind of gets in the way, you know? Work and television and errands and sometimes just not feeling like reading. I've learned to abandon books that don't make me want to pick them up at every opportunity, but it's hard when you're as picky as I am about authors ... sometimes I have to settle for what I've got. Anyway, I'm going to continue on with my revised goal of 52, which means 12 more books by June 1. It seems at once like a lot, and like nothing. It's going to help that i'm visiting dana in March -- plane travel = lots of reading time. Also I have $50 more to b&n from birthday :) so that's always helpful. AQ isn't coming out with a new one til April!!! :( but suz has been releasing old ones that can keep me through hahah (and i've fully got mar hooked on her, that makes three people so far I've gotten addicted to suz ... who's next??)

Anyway the book that got me to 40: Well ... the reason I got this one was because it was on the $5.99 shelf at b&n ... the one with the popular hardbacks they ordered too many of ... It's the book before "running hot" which I read a couple months ago (Another in the Arcane society novels) I ... I don't know. I readily admit it's the type of book I get teased for. Not in that it has a lot of sex, but that it isn't well-written like I mostly defend of my novels. But I keep reading these contemporary ones in this series. Like it carried my attention through the story ... even though it was meh. Again she has the characters fall in love too quickly. There goes any tension to carry the plot. The plot involved two different arcs that were separate, yet both important (props to her for not tying them together in an easy "twist" though) But it was hard to concentrate on one (i guess hard isn't the correct word ... annoying?) when the other one was running along in the back of my mind ... It also gave us two climaxes which is awkard as a reader i think ...

But with all that said, I still read it. And I'll probably read the next ones in her series as well ... I guess I'm a sucker for the arcane.
